“Girls can wear jeans, and cut their hair short Wear shirts and boots, ‘Cause it’s okay to be a boy But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading ‘Cause you think that being a girl is degrading”
Madonna achieved a lot of critical acclaim when she wrote that song.Ā I remember thinking how much I loved the titel. We do things differently than men, not better or worse just different. Our values are different and our motives are different. And thatās ok. In fact that is great! I am hoping more women will look into their strenghts and power instead of their weaknesses.
You get more energy and feel more powerful by showing what you are good at. This is the biggest take back most women had last saturday when I gave a personal branding workshop at Secretary Plus was: āI have never looked at it that wayā is what I heard a lot. Because all you sometimes need is a change in perspective.
So IĀ read this article last weekendĀ about how companies With More Women In Leadership GetĀ Blockbuster Results. Now that is a fact. We are needed in the workforce. You are needed in the workforce! Companies need more girl power. Not just for economics but also because we make different decisions. Like creating better working conditions.
And because some of you missed the great Dr. Yvonne Thompson when she spoke at our BrandedU seminar in September, you can see her fab video where she shares her personal story here.
This inspired me even more after watching the film The True Cost. Women make up the biggest part of factory workers. But they have no rights, donāt work under safe conditions and earn less than 100 dollars a month. This is where it gets really bad for women. If you want to know what it feels like for a girl in Bangladesh, watch this movie. Itās on Netflix! Or find out more here.
I canāt sit here and not do anything, not after seeing that film. Because all you need is a change of perspective. If we can move away from eating Fast Food we can move away from buying Fast Fashion. ā¦.So this friday the director of this documentary film will be in Amsterdam. I am going to listen to him. Care to join me? Check out:Ā http://www.strawberryearth.com/fair2015.Ā Maybe we can figure out a way to help those girls together. You and me, letās do it!

Yep I just quoted the great Sam CookeĀ and took you all the way back to 1963, 10 years before I was born. Sam Cooke spoke about change. I do love change. Change is good! Donāt be afraid of it, but welcome it. So this is my first week without my right hand woman Anouk. It is different, it is out of my comfort zone but that just means I am growing, learning and changing.
That is what I preach and what I believe in. Always keep growing. So if you are ready for something to change and need to give your career a big push,Ā I really want to help. And here are my ways to help you achieve that change. Only one day left of the special discount.

“You got to dance little sister Don’t give up today Hang on till tomorrow“
Remember Terrence Trent Dāarby? His voice was so raw and pure! I remember when he came on the music scene, he just blew us all away.
I was dancing at the start of this week when I had an amazing first presentation masterclass on monday : Presenting comfortably! Helping women tell their story and make a connection with their audience is what itās about. Super grateful for my partners Buffi Duberman and Astrid Rose. We each dealt with one of these subjects: Preparation, Personality and Performance. Our next masterclass will be on november 9th, join us if you want to improve your presentation skills.
People always ask me how do you do it all? You know, how do you manage your stuff. And the answer is simple : I love what I do. And if it becomes difficult or hard, I just dance it off! Music is my medicine ;-).
You need to see this film of Yvonne van Sark, she was one of the speakers last week at the BrandedU seminar. Here she talks about the importance of Perception (how are you perceived) and also about the emancipation of girlsā¦.it is interesting stuff!
I will be giving a special talk next week on personal branding at the FREE event REGUS is hosting called : Let your brand rock! Have you registered here yet? Did I tell you it was free??!
So have a great week and donāt forget to dance little sister!
