Ain’t no sunshine

“Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
It’s not warm when she’s away
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And she always gone too long anytime she goes away”

I love Bill Withers, I mean the man has had so many hits! Lean on me, Lovely day, Just the two of us and of course Ain’t no sunshine. Remember that scene from the movie Nothing Hill?! Hugh Grant walking through Portobello Market.. such an iconic movie scene.

Bill was 31 years old, working at a factory making toilet seats for 747s planes at the time he wrote this song. He was a late bloomer to the music industry. How inspiring is that?! You are never too old to follow your dreams and to become who you are meant to be. I started BrandedU only 2 years ago, I was already 40 years old. I was 37 when I started my own business (Branded Personalities), and basically changed my personal brand. So if you are wondering whether to start something completely new or perhaps you feel you are too old. I say start NOW, just do it already. Don’t waste any more time. Or make up any excuses! Yes, it is you I am talking to!

If you are scared and need help, let me tell you this: Go find your sunshine. Sometimes your sunshine can be a mentor, a coach or even a role model. I have been fortunate to have lots of rays of sunshines around me. People who have helped in my personal development. And so this week I want to shine a light on one of my mentors: Marian Spier. Marian is just one of those women that continuously keeps me on my toes. I learn from her every day and am so happy that we were introduced to each other 5 years ago by Willa Stoutenbeek (another inspiring woman)! Marian basically changed my life. It was because of my work together with her on TEDxAmsterdamWomen that I became brave enough to start BrandedU. If you want to find out more about Marian, you can watch her BrandedU film here.
