Don’t Look Back in Anger

What a week it has been. My beloved London was terrorized again. But you have to give it to the Londoners, they always pick themselves up and start walking again. Because life is for the living.

This week’s newsletter was inspired by One Love Manchester concert given by Ariana Grande and various other artists. It made me think of 90’ies band Oasis and their hit single “Don’t look back in anger”.

The song has a double meaning to me:

  1. It reminds me to keep moving forward.
  2. It teaches me to learn from my mistakes.

Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don’t you know you might find
A better place to play?

Yes, we can get stuck in the past and let it define us. Or we can move forward and visualize a better future. Often women don’t believe they can change their personal brand but then I show them examples like Victoria Beckham (from posh spice to fashion designer), Michelle Obama (from supposedly angry black woman to inspirational woman) and our own Neelie Kroes (from strict Europarlement member to backer of creative tech entrepreneurs).

You said that you’d never been
But all the things that you’ve seen
They slowly fade away?

There is no use moving forward if we keep on making the same mistakes. That’s just crazy. And going forward also means. Making choices. This week’s inspirational video is that of Esther Buitendijk. In it, she talks about how her biggest lesson learned is that she has to make choices. And in this day and age with so many options that is our biggest challenge. But once you know who you are, what your core values are, what you like or dislike….. it all becomes easier to make the right choices for you. Choices based on your wishes and not someone else’s. Choices that are easy to stick by because they match your brand.

Sharing real stories by real-life women is how BrandedU started. The seminar offers you a chance to get close to the women who are doing it and have been doing it successfully so you can learn from them. Will I see you there at the seminar on the 19th of June?

Can’t wait to hear about your choices!
