Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly high

My favorite eighties tv show definitely is FAME and this song by Irene Cara used to light up my life whenever it came on. The series shows these high school kids following their passion of different forms of arts and entertainment. I wanted to be one of those kids, not because of the fame but because of the passion they had!

People think personal branding is about seeking fame. It’s not. It’s about achieving your career goals and pursuing that which you are passionate about. The simplest way of looking at it is by asking yourself this question: What do I want to be known for?

Fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby, remember my name

Sure it’s about being visible and making sure people do remember your name when it comes to your business (whatever that is). But it is not about just being famous for the sake of it. Social media has definitely changed our outlook on fame. #instafamous right?

Baby, look at me
And tell me what you see
You ain’t seen the best of me yet
Give me time, I’ll make you forget the rest

For me social media is a great way to tell your story directly to the people that matter. Whether it’s to your business contacts on LinkedIn or your followers on Instagram, we all have a story to tell. Social media has given us new ways to build our personal brand. But how do you really use soclal media in a way that it works for you and you still remain authentic? That is a question I will be asking social media expert Kirsten Jassies of justK on the 27th of August at our summer high tea event.

I hope you will join us there!

XOXO,

Nancy
