I was devastated when I heard the news on Monday morning. R.I.P. David Bowie, the most influential man in pop music, we will never see the like of him again. He was only 69 years old. There is not a music genre he has not touched. No creative barriers he hasn’t broken. He was music. He was fashion. He was art.
David was once asked what he regarded the lowest dept of misery. His answer was: Living in Fear. Below is one of my favorite pictures of him. It was in Vogue Italia, August 1995, he is here with his wife iconic model Iman. They were married for 24 years until he passed away.
David was a rebel. He was fearless in following his path and his dreams. And you know what? We need more people following their true dreams!
Following your dreams lead you to living your life the way you want to…. and if you are living your dreams you are being your truest self. It is very much connected to what I always say in my seminars about Personal Branding. And that is that Personal Branding is the answer to the question: What do YOU want to be known for?
Sounds easy right? But it is so hard. And the road to discovering this is not always easy. That is what the last 2 years of BrandedU have taught me. I have been helping so many women become more visible and it always starts with that question.
Yesterday I heard a football coach say that what he learned from David Bowie was : you have to be strong enough to be yourself.That is my lesson learned. That is what I learned from all my years of working with artists. And that is why I started BrandedU.
