Especially in personal branding.
Even though this song, I learned from the best, by Whitney Houston is about a woman whose heart is broken by a man, it can also apply to any other disappointing relationship.
Because in your life you will realize there is a role for everyone to meet. Some will make you feel like you have been tested, some will make you feel like you have been used, some make you feel loved, but hopefully all of them will teach you a lesson.
And the ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you.
I like watching Oprah talk about her relationship with Maya Angelou. Theirs must have been of so much value. Because it was about love and as a mentor to Oprah she shares every lesson learned. That is why I build my personal branding program on women sharing lessons learned and that’s why I love sharing my life and career lessons learned.
Here she is talking to college graduates about life after university. And she shares her biggest lesson learned on people and relationships.

So ladies, relationships matter.
Everyone can influence your personal brand so make sure you surround yourself with the ones that build you up, bring you joy and energy, and believe in your talents.
