TESTIMONIALS
“After following the e-course I became very conscious of myself. The exercises make you go really deep within yourself and that can be very confronting. You become more aware of yourself, it helps you to clear your head and because of that you know exactly where you stand (and otherwise Nancy will help you).â â Lisanne van der Bij
“I was always busy pleasing others and putting myself in second place. Thanks to the e-course I know better who I am and what my focus should be to reach my goals.â â Lisa Kong
“I was curious to find out what effect personal branding has on my company and how I could manage this better. During the course you learn more about yourself so you know much better where you stand, what your capabilities are and where you want to go in the future.â â Stefana Boot

So get going, girl and remember what Einstein said: “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

I am just a girl
“‘Cause I’m just a girl I’d rather not be
‘Cause they won’t let me drive late at night
Oh I’m just a girl guess I’m some kind of freak
‘Cause they all sit and stare with their eyes
Oh I’m just a girl take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype
Oh, I’ve had it up to here!”
Yeah! That is what Evelien Hölsken was thinking 9 years ago when she founded Free a Girl.
She was inspired by an article she read in her local Harlem newspaper about child prostitution in India. And she said: enough is enough. 9 years on and her organization has freed over 4000 girls in Asia. When Evelien tells me stories she is not crying, and these are horrible stories, but she looks determined. Why? Because she knows things can change and by taking action we can give these girls a different life. She has even started training programs for these girls to learn skills. This is not your typical charity. This is an organization with a plan of freeing, preventing and educating girls who have been victims of child prostitution.
But Evelien needs our help. She has kindly asked me to get you going.
How?
Every year to gain attention and raise money, Free a Girl asks people (in the past mostly celebrities) to lock themselves up for 12 hours so they can show the world what these little girls have to endure. We discussed getting more people involved and business women such as yourself also reach a lot of conscious and willing to help people.
So are you willing to lock yourself up to show how evil and cruel that act is towards young girls? Are you willing to help us raise money for Free a Girl so more girls can be freed from child prostitution?!
All you need to do is send an email to info@brandedu.nl with: I AM IN, enough is enough! For more information you can go to https://www.lockmeup.nl.
Since you and I are connected I really hope you will help us help these girls. Let’s show the world what real sisterhood is about.
XOXO,
Nancy
Sweet Dreams
“Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas,
Everybody’s looking for something”
Remember The Eurythmics? And Annie Lennox? She was named Best British Female Artist a record six times and she was also named “The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive”. But what I love about her, is that in the music video for “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” she had a cool androgynous look and she wore a man’s suit brandishing a cane. This way of presenting herself made her a brand and household name!
I had to think of her and this song because I just love how fearless she is.
She is not afraid to try new things. I mean… She went solo and left the Eurythmics at the height of their succes! But she had to try something new and had to start a new chapter in her life where she could be more of herself and do more of what she wanted.
I get that. Sometimes we need to push ourselves so we achieve and do more than what we are doing now.
For those of you feeling the way, I have devised a FREE mini course called: The Next Episode. I already send it out to some of you last week. So if you were part of this unique group and haven’t hit me up yet, let me know what you thought of it.
So why the Next Episode course?
Because it is spring and we can all do with a bit of spring (inner) cleaning and because like Alicia Keys once told me: âchange is goodâ. I believe that. But it is also hard. That’s because real change means breaking patterns and getting rid of your old mindset. So it’s a challenge, but it can also lead to mind blowing results. Change makes you experience more in life and in the end you just have more fun.
I made big changes. I went from helping artists manage their careers to helping ambitious business women manage their careers. Because we need more women at the top. Gender inequality is still a big issue and it’s 2018. So this year I gave myself a challenge and that is helping 1000 women make themselves more visible so it benefits their careers. Because equality won’t happen by itself! This is the inspiration for my free mini personal branding course.
If you want to move forward and kick that glass ceiling so it breaks and is easier for all your sisters to join you (once you get there), follow my free mini course. All you have to do is register here and take action. Can’t wait to see you make those career moves and ROCK your personal brand. Let’s do this!
“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” — Maya Angelou

Hypnotize
Biggie Biggie Biggie can’t you see
Sometimes your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your flashy ways
Guess that’s why they broke, and you’re so paid (uh)
21 years ago hiphop icon Notorious BIG was shot dead. His famous lyrics came to mind thinking about the week that Iâve had. A week full of women who had inspiring words. Not only at the International Womenâs Day Summit we organized, but also on Facebook, face to face and via email. Check out the photoâs here.
Strive for continuous improvement
I was hypnotized by the words of these inspiring women because some people sell hope, but what we saw last Tuesday was results. Women who had done it, real life role models.
Even though some things did not go the way I would have liked. I remembered these words by a previous BrandedU Speaker (Katja KokâKeizer of Van Lanschot Bankiers): “Never strive for perfection, because it doesn’t leave room for others. Strive for continuous improvementâ!
I believe that. You can always keep developing yourself, because âGrowth is happinessâ. And yet still one third of employees donât invest in their personal development. They do discuss the subject with their HR managers (at least 40%), but less than 12% take action.
Get up & take action
So the biggest lesson I learned from all the women that spoke last week is how important it is to take action. And to keep taking action and to keep going. Even if you fall down flat on your face which is what I did in front of almost 250 women last week at the summit (true story). My ankle was so swollen it looked like a tennis ball. But hey, I kept on going through the pain and guess what?! By Friday it was almost gone and I could walk again, no joke. It seems that if you keep moving it heals quicker. That is how it is in real life as well. Keep on moving forward in your career even when you face the most difficult obstacles.
Stay relevant
And that brings me to this. Working on your personal development is the biggest gift you can give yourself. And with that comes self awareness and self confidence. These two qualities will help you get up when you get knocked down. And you will get knocked down. So for me developing these helped me tremendously in my career. And the feedback I have received over the last 4 years is that what BrandedU does is exactly that. Our training courses will help you become aware of who you are and want to be and will give you the confidence to show yourself authentically to the world. AND IN YOUR CAREER PERSONAL BRANDING HELPS YOU TO STAY RELEVANT!
Corinne Vigreux, founder of TomTom, said at our summit: âHave the confidence to do the things that make you move and give you the energy to go all the way to the top. Because going to the top is important, thatâs where you make decisions, that is where you can influence people. I think we should not limit ourselves as women.â
So if you are ready to make moves SO YOU CAN STAY RELEVANT! Register here for our BrandedU info day this Sunday in Amsterdam at 11 am.
If you need help moving forward in your career, donât wait, but get moving.
XOXO,
Nancy
